Professional Profile
Mr Hilal Fareed FRCS (T&O) is a highly experienced orthopaedic consultant. He is a general trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in lower limb surgery particularly hip and knee surgery including joint replacement surgery and arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery.
Mr Fareed obtained M.S in orthopaedic surgery from the renowned Aligarh Muslim University in India and MCh Orth from University of Liverpool. He passed the Intercollegiate Speciality Examination in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Edinburgh) and gained entry to the GMC’s Specialist Register.
After completing his training and working as a consultant in India Mr Fareed came to the UK. He was trained as registrar in Northwest of England and worked as a senior registrar at the Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot. After working for a considerable time at the West Middlesex University Hospital in London, he now works as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St Marys Hospital, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Newport.
Mr Fareed is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a fellow of Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). He is also a member of the orthopaedic council of RSM. He takes keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate training of the next generation of doctors.
Having worked as an orthopaedic surgeon in India, the Middle East and the UK, Mr Fareed is widely experienced and has a growing practice in providing Second Opinion for patients from all over the world.
Besides his clinical and operative orthopaedic practice Mr Fareed also has an extensive medico-legal practice as an expert in trauma and orthopaedics.
Mr Fareed does private consultations at 9 and 25 Harley Street & Weymouth Hospitals
in London and at The Mottistone, St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
Mr Fareed can communicate fluently in English, Urdu and Hindi and has basic knowledge of Arabic and Persian.

Second Opinion
Mr Fareed’s Second opinion service for Complex Hip and Knee Problems
Because of his extensive experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Mr Fareed is frequently contacted by patients for giving a second opinion on their lower limb problems where when patients are either not clear about or are not satisfied by previous advice. Second opinion on complex cases requires a detailed history, a thorough examination and a careful assessment of previous investigations. Such consultations may require extra time and may be differently priced.
